The design process, at its best, integrates the aspirations of art, science, and culture.
Jeff Smith
Migrating from the suburbs of Boston Mark spent a lot of time exploring all the borders of America, and some places beyond them. That time has given him a wide range of perspectives, which led to picking up a camera. Mark began shooting photos and keeping a journal of the travels, sharing who he had met and what he had witnessed with others.
Beginning in 1999 Mark began submitting stories to several publications such as Faction, Dig Bmx, and Ride Uk magazine. Continuing to progress his skills as a photographer through the help of industry professionals Mark started submitting photos along with the stories. This lead to an associate editor position at Bmx Plus magazine, the oldest bmx magazine still in circulation. Since 2004 Mark has worked a freelance position, offering photography and creative writing services for publications and businesses.
The progression into the visual arts was inevitable expanding his professional abilities as an artist; leading to painting, drawing, and digital graphics. In order to build a foundation for graphic design Mark attended IADT (International Academy of Design and Technology). During the time at school Mark learned the necessary skills for conceptualizing graphics for both print and web media. At present he continues his work as a freelance designer, blending all types of visual communication.
